Chanel's Little Black Jacket exhibition in London's Saatchi
Galleries opened last week - another social event I'm missing this season due
to embracing my temporary islandic lifestyle (and Saatchi of all places - my
mecca, my temple, my Taj Mahal).
So the exhibition is a show case of black and white pictures of celebrities wearing the iconic Chanel black jacket - can this event get more chic?! The pics are taken by the God that is Karl Lagerfeld - the guru, the shaman, my guardian style angel.
Karl is a genius,
and what a fabulous way to showcase the LBJ than by getting lots of fashion and
celeb personalities style their Chanel in to reflect personal style...from
Alexa, to Carrine to Georgia to Vanessa...to the more unexpected characters
like Kayne West, but then again, we do want our men to look chic!
It's the epitome of style, and no one does that better than the French (Quelle Surprise!). The jacket sends a message that it can be worn by each and everybody - its simplicity and versatility is what makes it a necessity rather than a luxury, an investment, rather than a splurge. This jacket is not about fashion, its about style - in the words of Coco herself "fashion passes, style remains" - exactly this is what makes a LBJ a timeless piece and a wardrobe staple!
That is why I love the French style, and Chanel is top of my list - effortless elegance and chic - just take the pearls, the quilted bags, the LBJ...these have been around for years, and are still in high demand, with vintage pieces especially- symbols of style.
Happy Chanelegance Everyone!
And here are some of the best pics from the exhibition...
